I am plot-blocked on two fics whereas cheerful fluff is cheerful and coming along swell. This is problematic since classes start next week. Speaking of which I already have homework for next week, but it's for my Early Modern Drama class which I am super looking forward to because I couldn't be nerdier if I tried. So.

Favorite Person: Eomer.
Least Favorite Person: Elrond. Dude, all you had to do was just PUSH Elendil into Mt. Doom and save everyone some trouble. What even?
Prettiest Person: Faramir. How the man looks that pretty and groomed on the battlefield all the time, I never understood. Perhaps he is part elf?
Most Beautiful Person: Arwen. Grace and starfire and Liz Taylor.
Person I Want to Marry: Eomer.
Person with Whom I Want to Be Best Friends: Legolas. I want to learn how to be an elf-ninja.
Favorite Pairing: Faramir/Eowyn.
Unpopular Opinion: I never bought the "Smeagol was more sinned against than sinning" argument. I also wasn't a huge fan of Aragorn ending up with Arwen, particularly after I read the HoME and found in previous drafts he ended up with Eowyn.

I think with Smeagol (baring in mind this is the first real analysis of it for me haha)is that it helps show what Frodo has in store if he doesn't give it up, because Smeagol was just like him, except he kept on slipping and then became Gollum. I wouldn't see him as sinned against, simply because yes the ring was an influence on the first murder, but that instinct to do so must have been there all the time and just magnified. But I could be talking out of my arse XD

Yeah there's a couple of earlier drafts where Aragorn ends up marrying Eowyn and living happily ever after, and then there's one where she dies on the battlefield so he never marries anyone cos he's all brokenhearted.

Ahhhh, now that is interesting. I mean, I never really saw Aragorn and Eowyn as right for each other (more BFFs than anything), so it's interesting to see how the character development of them both changed in the drafts :)

See I don't think they'd ever be BFFs: if anything, that would be Merry for her. I think there's too much hero worship and even when she realizes (if she ever does) Aragorn is really a mortal man it would still be tinged with "He's the King!" super-loyalty etc.

I also thought that the possibility of an Aragorn/Eowyn relationship would have been more interesting in developing Aragorn as a character, because he's such a young man when he falls for Arwen and there's all this mythic stuff in his mind about perfect love and Beren and Luthien (and I think some of that is true for her as well) that I don't think that "real life" would have really suited them all that well. Whereas Eowyn has spent pretty much all her life running a keep and everything, she would have been a true partner to him.

Correction. Elrond just needed to push Isildur. Elendil was already dead.

I have to go with Denethor as my least favorite person, though the movie did make him seem worse than the book. In the book he still had a kingly quality to him, just overcome with despair that led to his final insanity.
