So today I went to the library to check out The Da Vinci Code. Yes, I know I'm probably the last person in the country who hasn't read it, but apparently the sequel is all about Masonic conspiracies in DC, and for some reason I find that WAY more interesting than Jesus' sex life.

Other book notes:

1) Finally got my greedy lil hands on Henri-Bernard Levy's American Vertigo: Following in the Footsteps of Toqueville. Some things about this book: a) Shouldn't it be de Toqueville instead of just Toqueville? b) The period mark is very useful. It allows one to breathe at the end of a sentence and keep track of what's going on. Levy should look into it.

2) I'm rereading Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel's Legacy series in preparation for the June publication of a new trilogy in that 'verse. This series is one of my favorites of all times. Gorgeous writing, absorbing plots, magic, alternate history, derring-do and romance: SWEET.

So in other news I'm learning to rollerblade. I found yesterday that being on skates for a while is a bit like being on a boat--so when you put normal shoes on you feel all discombobulated and everything. Overall I think it's pretty fun and will be more so when I'm to the point where I'm not taking baby steps.
