So let me tell you about the asshole librarian I talked with today. I was going to check a book out after work, so I go downstairs. Well they have this new "self-check" machine up, and next to it is a big sign that says "Free! Fast! Self Service!" But I say whatever, the McKeldin librarians at the check-out desk are the laziest fucks in the world, it'll do them good to move their wrists a little. So I go up there, handover my book and card, and the librarian says "You *do* know about our new self-service, right?" and I say "Yeah, I just don't care." And because I'm a catty git I add, "Especially it being free and all. What with this being a LIBRARY." And he goes off on something about tuition stuff, and I make some listening noises, and then he inexplicably goes on this shpiel about as he works there he can check out books for a whole year (oooh ahhh *coff*) and he was thinking for Xmas he could check a buncha stuff out and loan 'em out to friends.

Oh NICE.

That was just, um, yeah. Sometimes I just want to bring down my Reference Services book and just point out the whole section they have on being "nice" and "helpful" for these people. Yeesh!
