Book Review 6: Nine and a Half Weeks by Elizabeth McNeill

I picked this up in the laundry room's leave-a-book-take-a-book-pile to read while doing said laundry.

I don't get it. Apparently thirty years ago it's this shocking pornagraphic thing and now it's just a love affair. Um, okay. I don't get why the S&M bits are supposed to be shocking or damaging. The one mention of bloodplay is so brief as to be, well, I don't know what happened or bloody it was as to whether it was really a big deal.

Last of all, why did the author have to go to the hospital/loony bin for help? Help with what? Aside from the inexplicable crying jag she seems fine to me so what's the issue? (Unless of course it's psychotic abusive doctors, not that I'm biased or anything.)

Anyhow, I think it must be like Fantastic Four: it just made sense back then.

Actual Life

So needless to say I've spent my weekend reading. %D I've just been exhausted by this week and made up for it by settling down with my comforter and books.

Anyhow, it's almost time to get ready for another week. I'm giving THREE talks at work tomorrow, how about that? And Saturday night I'm going to the shindig at work, which sounds neat, if a little tiring as I'll work a full day, go home and change, then go back. But that's adulthood, huh?

Also in a week Scott will finally be back on the east coast. Depending on how things go he'll either come down to DC on the 23rd (when he arrives, except I kind of doubt it as surely he'll want to do laundry, mail, etc) or the 25th. I've missed him a lot this month and have told him several times how much whining he'll be in for if he leaves for this long again!

I suppose that's all...been too tired to get into too much mischief.
