Review: The Prestige
Nov. 4th, 2006 11:01 pmI deeply enjoyed this movie, and loathed the inane ongoing commentary from the idiots sitting nearby. Sometimes I wish they could make rules saying dumb people shouldn't go to movies that require thought.
So, the movie: Damn, I love Hugh Jackman. And Christian Bale. And Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman. Yum.
One of the best things about it is the historical accuracy. Yes, back in the day they did kill birdies in "tricks." Why? Because they don't really disappear into the hankie.
Not so good was a sci-fi twist at the end. It was okay, just out of place with everything else. Going out of their way to do hardcore reality the rest of the time, it just seemed a misstep.
David Bowie as Tesla. Hee.
Fair warning: the movie was directed by the dude who did Memento. The beginning of the movie asks, Are you watching closely?. So: Do.
