I'm about to drop off the planet.
We have just under a week and a half to dismantle the massive scifi exhibit and put together things for the Criner exhibit. This will be interesting. Also, does anyone have any caffeine IVs they can slip me? Cos I might need them.
And in typical Cait's luck fashion, I heard from not one but TWO editors in the last couple days wanting last minute revisions etc. One of whom wants things sorted by Monday. SERIOUSLY? So I'm pulling that together and home and just SIGH, it never rains but it pours.
Speaking of academia, I got my date and time for my talk at PCA and will also be a panel mod for the Gender and Sexuality section of the Fan Theory area, which has me goofily happy. Now I just need to finish that paper before April...
More amusingly, an innocent freshman wandered into the library today and inquired about a tour. So I was happy to take a break for twenty and show her around, and geek away. Poor thing had no idea what she got herself into. On top of which, since we were doing fabrication today (most of the afternoon was spent with me measuring plexiglass sheets and matching them to the frames Todd was assembling) I was dressed in a tshirt and cargo pants, and she was all "And so what year are you?" Her eyes about popped out of her head when I told her I was a professor. "No offense," she said, "but you don't look old!" I've been LMAO since.
In matters more fandomy, I'm the
author spotlight this week over at
jim_and_bones. It's f-locked but if you're in Reboot Trek fandom, particularly K/Mc, it's an awesome place to be. In sidewaysedly related news,
Expected Learning Outcomes garnered a
rec over at
crackenterprise. I finished my Sweethearts fic over the weekend and
gadgetorious has it right now, and then I've been working on my
thepurpledove fic and should have it done on schedule for March. *knocks on wood* It's a sequel to my Kushiel!fic and I finally came up with a decent title last night, "Heaven is Bloodless." *is all pleased with self*
So yeah, that's me. If you try to get in contact with me or leave a message and I don't get back to you immediately, well--now you know why. :)
