Rejoicing in Things Seasonal

The Fall is maybe my favorite season. I like the smell of the air, pumpkins appearing, the changes in the leaves, and so on. I also have a particular weakness for Halloween candy--I don't know why orange and brown wrappers suddenly make chocolate taste better, but it does! I'm not a pumpkin spice everything person though. I think it smells nice? But the taste, especially on e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g, doesn't do it for me. (However peppermint is my personal kryptonite, so I am in trouble come November!)

Anyway, the weather is perfect at the moment: cool air, golden sunshine, blue skies. Crunchy leaves appeared on the ground as if from nowhere. 

This weekend I'm making a birthday cake with the last of the summer strawberries. Then it can be time to turn to all things apple....
