Today has been a long day and I almost forgot my book of the day! Strange Tales is a eighteenth century Chinese collection of....stuff. There's historical anecdotes, folklore, weird vignettes, some bits that approach what we'd consider to be short stories. It is delightful. Also, much better than Montaigne, who the NYT was talking up this weekend, and I say this as someone who also likes Montaigne, but Pu is so much weirder and I dig that.
