it's raining and I'm doing nothing

 I gave a collaborative paper yesterday afternoon to little comment--it being at the Kalamazoo medieval congress, which is as cutthroat as can be, that's actually pretty decent. Second conference of the year, and the second where my paper has been on Saturday afternoon.

I keep wanting to write something about ::gestures at the world on fire:: but I don't have anything new to say, only the reminder from Satan's speech in Paradise Lost: 

What though the field be lost?
All is not Lost; the unconquerable will,
And study of revenge, immortal hate,
And the courage never to submit or yield.
