My Restless Mind

I've really had difficulty concentrating on things this summer. (Year. Decade. Millennium...) Partly it is exhaustion and depression mixed with ::gestures at everything::. I'm on a conference planning committee and had the belated thought that perhaps we might have a session discussing scholarship during interesting times--how many thinkpieces on banned books, tenure eviscerations, dying democracy and climate catastrophe have been written, and yet, how little do we discuss the very real impact this has on our work? (For instance, my library unit will be moving below ground into a newly renovated space in a few years, which no one is happy about, but then I point out the changed calculus should a dreaded F4 tornado come by...) 

I want to say more, but I lack words and perhaps follow-through. But. ::gestures::
