We're laughing our asses off.

It is pretty ridiculous when it's not being offensive. That said, Karl looks awesome reading in western gear, andthey did a surprisingly good recreation of Austin from that period. But otherwise, I keep thinking how much better this would be if Joss were writing it ala Firefly.

Plus, Val Kilmer was cracktacular.

I was actually a bit disappointed in Karl's performance. He took the laconic thing to the extreme and didn't evince much emotion of any kind.

Also, he never took his shirt off. That was a problem.

Well I think he was being accurate to the character/man of his time thing, but it's just that because it's Karl we WANT so terribly to see him emote. Particularly in the scenes with Maggie when she's cuddling him and stuff, we want him to cuddle back because we a) emphasize with her anyway and b) kinda wanna BE her right there. :)

....just about every Western I've ever seen could have been improved with spaceships. Thus, my excitement for "Cowboys And Aliens".

See, if I want to watch a western, then I watch Comanche Moon or True Grit. If I want to watch a Western Sci Fi Fantasy then I watch Firefly. If I want to watch modern western then it's Justified all the way bb!

As someone asked Karl about Woodrow, how it was to play an "emotional retard?" Karl deadpan replied that he has always wanted to play one of those. ;)

Woodrow isn't redeemable about his emotions. He just can't feel them, or let himself feel them and that is very true to that period. The west was offensive. If Karl had hugged back Maggie, then he wouldn't have been true to that character.

Characters that you like for some reasons and also dislike for others make them interesting and more well rounded characters.

I have a soft spot for westerns as I grew up watching them with my dad, Two mules for Sister Sarah and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid will always be some of my favourite movies. I've also enjoyed researching the period again for my Comstock Kings verse.
