I'll be honest: I was really let down by this one, and apparently I'm the only one to feel this way, and I'm confused.

I was so pumped to see it, and yet I was completely unmoved. I don't know why, either: performances ranged from adequate (Bucky) to great (Tommy Lee Jones, I love you so). I was impressed that Chris Evans showed NOTHING of Johnny Storm or any of his other characters to date. But...I was unconvinced a lot of the time. I didn't really get the "deep friendship" with Bucky, though I did think, in reference to XMFC "hey, this is what actual hetero friendship is like" but I also didn't care when he died either, which is a shame. I cared watching cartoon!Bucky die, so shouldn't I feel more so for a genuine actor? Likewise at the end when Steve and Peggy are saying their tearful goodbyes, I didn't care either. I felt like I should be crying and I wasn't.

Okay, now let me list all the things I DID like:

*The throwbacks to Thor, from Yggdrasil to the Warriors Three (hai guyz! I did NOT expect to see you here!).
*The Synthetic Man (that's oldschool!Human Torch to you!).
*Howard Stark. OMFG, can we just keep him? Please? Tell me he got frozen too and he's going to go on mad partying binges with Tony?
*Again with Tommy Lee Jones!
*The "Star-Spangled Man" propaganda tune was written by Disney man Alan Mencken, most famous for The Little Mermaid et al.

So yeah, there's that then. Right, who's up for Cowboys and Aliens this weekend?
