Title: Heaven is Bloodless
Author: caitri
Rating: NC-17 (Language, Sex)
Pairings: Kirk/McCoy, Kirk/McCoy/Miramanee, Sam/Miramanee
Word Count: 53,126
Summary: AU. Slowly recovering from past tragedy, Jim Kirk nó Pike decides to venture to Terra Nova in search of something like peace. Where else would Leonard McCoy nó Balm be but at his side? An STXI mashup with Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel’s Legacy series. Sequel to Love As Thou Wilt. And Anemones Bloomed is a companion story.
Warning: Mentions past non-con and past character deaths.
Disclaimer: I know this may come as a shock, but I am not, amazing as it may seem, Gene Roddenberry, J.J. Abrams, Paramount or Bad Robot. Just so you know.
A/N 1: Written for
heeroluva as part of
thepurpledove. Thanks to
suddenlyswept for linguistic help,
tocourtdisaster for multiple read throughs, and to
avictoriangirl as the heroic final beta!
A/N2: Because a vague disclaimer is no one’s friend: I’m liberally rewriting the TOS episode “The Paradise Syndrome” by Margaret Armen. One of the (many) problems of this episode is the stereotypical portrayal of Native Americans/indigenous peoples. (Their planet is called Amerind if that gives you any idea how it goes.) Anyhow, in this rewrite some aspects of Algonquin culture and history are being adopted as background for this story. Sources will be listed in the Notes at the end.
This also takes place in Jacqueline Carey’s marvelous universe from her Kushiel’s Legacy series. For this story, I expanded on Carey’s creation by, uh, a lot, though I tried to keep it as credible as possible considering the events described take place several hundred years after those of her books. So anyone who decides to read them after reading this and ends up confused…sorry. Really.
The wonderful
