A Book a Day: The Goblin Emperor
Jul. 10th, 2020 02:49 pmEvery day I'm sharing an image of a book I like. Today's is a lovely low fantasy that is, basically, competence porn. The half-Goblin son of the Emperor finds himself in new and utterly unexpected power when an "accident" wipes out a chonk of the imperial family. Maia has been rejected for the better part of his life, and despite being a member of the royal family has lived largely in exile with a distant and abusive guardian. His education has been neglected, he's a teenager, and now he's supposed to rule a vast empire, manage court politics and intrigue, and figure out what the hell exactly happened to his dad.

Btw Addison's new novel--a steampunk au in which Sherlock Holmes is an angel investigating Jack the Ripper--came out, like, last week apparently, and I'm ordering it as we speak. >_>

Like, I said, competence porn: You're just cheering for him the whole time!!
