caitriI wheedled Scott into seeing this with me after months of obsessing over it, and he actually liked it! Nice double stories of the brutality of the fairy world (y'know, the real one, not the dandied up Victorian confections. If you love Brian Froud and Alan Lee, you will so love this!) and the brutality of fascist Spain.
About fascist Spain: DA-YAMN. Graphic ickiness is here. This is one of the reasons I love going to movies, as I can close my eyes and when 150 people start breathing again I know it's safe to open them.
It also does a Brotherhood of the Wolf-type ending: what is dream and what is death? Is there a difference?

Me exhausted and PMSey also. This is Scott's first weekend home and all I've wanted to do is sleep, and we've both been bitchy too each other and apologized. We both need a REAL vacation that does not involve stressful family gatherings, multiple canceled flights or multiple cases of lost luggage. Grr argh.
