First lines of of a review written by Ruth Levy Guyer of the book: Obsessive Genius: The Inner World of Marie Curie by Barbara Goldsmith
In the Winter 2005 issue of The Wilson Quarterly, pg. 120

"Marie Curie's family donated her workbooks, diaries, journals, and other papers to the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris at the end of the 20th century. In what may have been a cataloging first, the library initially had to sort the collections into three groups based on the level of radioactivity."

Just finished reading Jennifer Government by Max Barry, in which amongst other privatization-run-amuck wackiness schools have been co-opted by Mattel, McDonald's, etc. Then I see the News cover story at Salon and it's about how Microsoft is putting all this money into new schools that will do holistic learning and lots and lots of laptop usage.

I can't decide if this is ironic or merely QED.

So I called my Mom for an aunt update and it turns out the hospital is going to just send her back to the nursing home even though she's still bleeding internally as her health is too bad for them to do surgury or do anything but let her sleep or whatever.

Grr. Argh.
