Your music sucks. Badly. As in I would rather listen to country and rap than to the whatever-the-hell-it-is that you play.

Secondly, what is UP with your book selection?? It's like last week's bestsellers and your own publications and that's it.

And clearly you are working on your show tables. But having a couple of them half empty? Not inspiring me to buy anything that's left on them.

At least you had the new Lapham's Quarterly. But having The American Scholar in would have been nice, too.

Yeah, but did they have cheesecake? That's what really matters (everyting else can be bought online).

Yes they did, and I bought Mom a piece (and me a cupcake).

Yeah, I've gotten pickier about bookstores since working in one. It's all that hard to keep running, really.

And if it's a big box bookstore, there are certain expectations that they should be meeting--it's a different world that the dusty, homey used bookstore that may or may not ever have any given title.

For me it's the fact that they consistently have nothing or else very little that I want to take home.

And this is ME we're talking about. Me who will cheerfully drop ridiculous amounts of income on printed matter!!!!! Which is probably a good thing that they don't tempt me, so I only have, y'know, ALL OF ONLINE to deal with, but still!!!
