Now I generally don't care for this sort of thing, but when an overwight, middle-aged woman who claims she's never been kissed and gets the looks of disdain she does from that audience, then sings her heart out with a genuinely amazing voice and makes them cry... Fuckin' A. Right on, sister. I hope you sell more CDs than any of the other gits they've given careers to.

I saw that the other day. Usually I don't go in for "Idol Entertainment", but damn... I just about fell out of my seat when she opened her mouth, and that wonderful sound came out.

My immediate thought: Holy crap, she's a book.

Yeah, it's really true. I actually watched it again with the sound off--it's truly fascinating watching people's faces. There's the sneering as she talks, the gawps as she first starts singing, and then the admiration as they're all won over. That's beautiful.
