Scott's in Chicago for his conference and sent me pictures!

Melanie is also going to Trader Joe's and getting chocolate-covered cherries for him to bring home! Yay! (I sang "You are my hero" to her on the phone, cos she is.)

The dentist appointment went okay although I ended up going to work late as they gave me shots with drogs that made my face all droopy and stroke-like, and I sounded like Jim Kirk with numb-tongue. Not flattering.

Anyhow, tonight a bunch of stayed late because the Association of Texas Museums is having their annual conference here and wanted tours. And they were like ninety minutes late, which sucked. But the gang of us went out to Ninfa's for dinner and David paid. I got an amaretto sour as they were out of pina coladas, and oh man but did that drink make me feel better. As we left I said mournfully, "I wish I could've had a second one, but I didn't want to be goofy." The gang got a good laugh out of that. But hey, at least I wasn't the one being made passes at by drunken museum people. Just sayin'.

Several years ago, S sent me a picture of himself much like the second one. I call that sculpture the Mirror Bean, though I think it's actually named something like Cloud 9.

I have a weird relationship with going to the dentist, because my dentist is a genuinely nice guy who really wants the best for his patients (for instance, when I called him with a bad toothache the night before our flight left for our trip to DC last year, he called me in some things that made it really okay for the whole week we were gone). Yet he's also the guy who drills on my teeth. Cognitive dissonance at its finest.
