Son of a bloody bitch!
Oct. 14th, 2004 10:44 pmThis morning I found out why work has been insane the past couple weeks. Usually I have about 45 or so requests a day, end up doing 25 or so. Today I had 153 and did 42. ARGH.
The cause? A member of the E-reserves team told TPTB they could save a ton of money by using OCLC directly since it's free rather than using Ingenta as they have in times past. So they saved $40k this past year.
HOWEVER:
OCLC doesn't have as much direct full-texts as Ingenta does, which is what the patrons want/need. What they can't get online they have to get through ILL, or in common parlance, moi.
The person in question told me this. As those of you who read this (both of you) know, I have a transparent face. Now admittedly it was 8something in the morning and I've been all sleep-deprived in preparation for the Americana fundraiser tomorrow, but all the same, I must've shown something, as TPIQ looked at me funny for a second and then was all "Well I have to go check on something back here, see you later, hon."
Of course you realize, this means war.
Raar!!
