Is this the new YA book that comes out this month? I ordered it for the library but haven't got my hands on it yet. :(

Yes. It is bad. I say this as someone with a collection of ST novels. I am seriously writing the editors when I'm done with it. That's how frustrated/annoying it is!!!

Oh, that sucks! I had some high hopes for it. I adore YA lit and having Trek books in it was such a perfect mix for me! :(

The YA Trek books from the 90s were awesome! so I'm confused. Maybe it's just this volume??

Yeah. I have a laundry list of complaints, and it is growing. Expect a lengthy post sometime in the nearish future.

HAHAHAHAHA

Oh god, is it like badfic? I'm tempted to get it, if it's at least hilariously bad.

It is damn close to badfic. But more irritating and heteronormative. *pouts*

I am reading right now and I was like umm wtf as well. BUt then it is a YA Book.

What part are you at? I am enjoying it even thru some of the silliness.

But I noted a mistake that bothered me...

There is no school SFU, there is UCSF and SFSU.... a few other things. But the silliness is enjoyable.

Oh yeah an one other thing hee.

Is it just me or are some of the things going on in the book totally not YA. Like drunk and frisky Giaila? The boys hunting for tail? Hmmm. Heh.

See I could see SFU being something that is erected before the twenty-third century, but they should have, y'know, mentioned that.

The gangbangers bug me.

The last scene I read is Kirk teleporting the chick and McCoy talking to her.

But I wasn't expecting much, and was pleasantly surprised :)

Hmm. Maybe it gets better?? Or I'm a genre snob. (It's probably I'm a snob, cos I am. ;))

Well, it does develop everyone's characters (the bit with the final test gives an idea of why the Admiralty may have thought "Hey, giving Jim the Enterprise isn't just because we have no one left" :D), and even though it isn't brilliant, it's still pretty fun to read :D

Also, I zoomed through it and will probably go back if I'm bored and need something to keep my brain busy for half an hour xD

Yeah I've been reading it intermittently because I'm tired and overloaded right now.

Though the one thing I do like is Jim being a caffeine addict. :D :D :D
