Movie Review: Centurion

One of those pseudo-historical "what happened to the Nineth Legion" stories. It's like a cross between Rome and King Arthur in a not so good way--lots of blood, clumsy writing, dubious historical accuracy. And really it's a Vietnam/Iraq parable in sandals.

This is my favorite line:

"A big fucking wall? THIS is the plan?!"

Yup. Apparently so.

Hahahaha! That was so much better than this film. Though Mickey from Dr Who was in it (briefly) and I was all, Hi Mickey! You look....buff. WEIRD.

What is Island of Ghosts and why is it awesome?

It's a historical novel by Gillian Bradshaw about Sarmatian cavalry being stationed in Britain around 150 AD or so. Well-drawn characters, awesome historical details (one of my favorit things about her writing is she usually has a few pages of historical ntoes and bibliography at the end of her work).
