Cos I tracked down a copy of Ishmael, a licensed Star Trek TOS novel that was a "crossover" piece with this show because Mark Lenard was on it.

I have come to two conclusions:

1) Clearly everyone was high in the sixties.

2) It actually bothers me when Mark Lenard smiles.

This is Sarek. He's not supposed to show emotion!

I am CONFUSED.

OMG, I ACTUALLY HAVE THAT ONE.

I like it. Of course, it gets a special place in my heart for being the first one I ever read when I was like 12, so..... Yeah.

Awesome.

I can't remember what my first Trek book was. I think it was either one of the Blish or the Foster adaptations though.

Most of mine are in storage. Le sigh. I still have a bunch of "new" ones I haven't read yet though. :)

In my TOS to read stack? Crisis on Centaurus, The Romulan Way and The Final Nexus. I have a few others I want to read but I have to check back at Cliff's and see if they have them.

Tee hee, I was a FAN of the BRIDES when it originally ran.

I loved it (the friends of my parents in Seattle hated it--see by then, my family was in Idaho, but we vacationed at a beach lot where my mom now lives full time on the Kitsap Peninsula--a ferryboat ride from Seattle). And where we vacationed looked a lot like the Seattle in the series.

So yeah, I was one of the few people who picked up that book (am a HUGE Hambly fan--she writes fantastic original fantasy btw), and went AHAHAHAHAHAH I get it.

Do you know the background (originating in fanfiction type thing, Hambly sold it, one part of Paramount nearly sued itself when they realized OMG that's this show, but it turned out Paramount owned rights to both shows).

I knew the fanfic origins part but did not know the Paramount almost sued itself part--that's awesome. Strangely enough, the Star Trek Fiction Companion (http://www.amazon.com/Voyages-Imagination-Star-Fiction-Companion/dp/1416503498/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1291908802&sr=8-2-fkmr1) leaves a lot of these gory ideals out. ^_^

Was talking to one of my fandom friends last night--turns out Ishmael was the first Trek novel she ever read, and she had no idea about the fic/x-over origins.

Sidewaysedly, yesterday I found this website of digitized fanzines (http://www.simegen.com/fandom/startrek/showcase/) that may be of interest to you as well. :D

It's a fun book especially for anyone who grew up watching 60's westerns. There's a LOT of TV western characters in it, just unnamed for legal reasons.

NICE. Do you by chance have a list of them or know where such a thing might reside? *hopeful look*
