Investigating a tidbit from morfin I went down into the stacks and discovered this book of fan-written Trek stories published in 1978.

One story, "The Procrustean Petard" is a genderswap with heavy K/Mc subtext. It made me shriek in the stacks.

Head's up. Looks like there's used copies out there, too.

Oh I think I've read about those! They were referenced in, I think, Bacon-Smith's Enterprising Women which was one of the earlier academic studies of fan culture.

I got my paws on a copy of Ishmael and started reading it this week (staying up too late reading, no less). I netflixed a disc of Here Come the Brides and reading this after watching that--yeah. Legit fanfic. AWESOME. :D
