So I spent Spring Break in Atlanta with Scott, taking it easy. I feel like myself for the first time in ages.

Two articles of mine came out over the weekend:

That Girl: Bella, Buffy, and the Feminist Ethics of Choice in Twilight and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. You should read it if only because it contains the single most offensive sentence ever published in Slayage, at least according to the copy editor. *G*

The Contraband Incident: The strange case of Marion Zimmer Bradley. Fanfic and copyright issues, and my other great obsession, MZB.

Lastly, I've been watching one of the crackiest movies I've ever seen: Angel. It reminds me a lot of Cold Comfort Farm but even more crackier.

*headtilt* I wanted to leave a comment asking this, but I see it has been answered already! I'm a little perplexed as to why that was so offensive. I read the article first, going 'that must be the offensive sentence! Oh wait, Bella's spine being broken is canon.'

Interesting article!! I have to admit, surface comparisons between Buffy and Bella tend to get my back up, but your take was insightful and definitely not surface level.

Strangely enough, the only question about Twilight canon was "double-check the c-section by fang and supply a page reference"--I'm like, Oh, like THAT's the most unbelievable thing there!!

I have to say, I'm one of those people who have all sorts of issues with Twilight, but I really, really liked the point of view you brought with the Buffy/Bella comparison. I liked that the article wasn't cheering in one corner and scoffing at the other and that the entire point was to LOOK at these characters as women who make choices.

So, uh, this is me? Cheering like whoa.
