So littlemissgriff made me a Kirk doll, and he stands cheerfully on guard on my desk. Today is a ridiculous Monday and I am resisting the urge to carry him to my afternoon meetings for comfort.
One of those voice-recorder tab-thingies you can get at Build-A-Bear Workshop, that you put in the teddybear, and then when you squeeze it, it sounds like the bear is talking to you.
In this particular case, perhaps an audioclip of the podfic might suffice? Or else, "I don't believe in no-win scenarios," for when you need a pep talk?
Well, it seems I'm a little late to the party, but... I think the ones at Build-a-Bear are $8.00, and you can find 'em in most malls. Or, there's this online shop: https://www.bdaybears.com/sound-chip-for-stuffed-animal/recordable-sound-chip.html (though the sound clip isn't that long - I suppose you could put different quotes in each hand and foot, and he'd say different things depending on where you squeezed him...)
Okay, now I want to go out to JoAnn's, and buy a bolt of polarfleece, and make a giant Bones plushie with different cuss-words depending on where you hug him.
No, but - now I really want to make a plushie. I haven't sewn in such a long time (though I have a boxful of amigurumis of varrying competency levels sitting in my garage right now, with all the other packed boxes, looking for a new home should anyone need a stuffed crochet friend of unknown breeding and parentage....), and it's eating at my brain. I'm actually trying to figure out if I can make it to JoAnn's tomorrow afternoon, or if I should wait 'til the weekend and sketch a pattern first.
What, like actually remember to take pictures of the in-between steps, so that others can follow along tutorial-style?
Hmmm.....okay. Supply List:
- blue polar fleece for shirt. - black polar fleece for pants/feet - brown polar fleece for hair - taupe polar fleece for face/hands - butcher paper for pattern (it's probably going to be far more like an Ugly Doll in construction, than a Steiff bear) - buttons for eyes? those cool glass ones, that look kinda like Beanie Baby eyes? (QUICK - WHAT COLOR EYES DOES BONES HAVE?) - sewing machine (screw thread color changes, no-one will notice the seams anyway) - recordable sound chips (I'm thinking five: both hands, both feet, and....other) - Movie!
I bet if you could find a bit of grey foam straw thing, and/or those fuzzy wirey things, that would work. (I'm sorry, I have no idea what any of that stuff is called. :/ )
Right? I love flipping through Craftster, and seeing all the neat things people have put together.......and then I rush off to Michael's and OD on craft supplies. It's a bad habit :-(
Uh, no. Just books. Lots of them. Like, seriously, I OD on Roman cavalry histories and Iranian mythology and Anglo Saxon poetry, and don't even get me STARTED on zines!!!!
See, when I go to Amazon or the big Borders in the City, it's "Oh, look! Crochet motif patterns here, audiobook murder mysteries there," and then grabbing, "How To Make Sock Monkey Monsters" for perusing at the in-house Starbucks.
