So I was deeply underwhelmed. It went on way too long, most of the acting was meh, and honestly I was getting irritated with it up until I decided to view it like this:
All the wannabe filmmaker kids? Are stand-ins for this generation's filmmakers. To wit:
Bossy kid who keeps rewriting = George Lucas
Spazzy kid who keeps crying and/or vomiting = Steven Spielberg
Shrieky kid who likes to blow shit up = Michael Bay
The quiet emphatic character who gets it all = J.J. Abrams (BTW That's Abrams on Abrams, not me on Abrams, cos I laugh.)
My fav bit was the gas station called The Kelvin. I guess he couldn't figure out a way to get a Slush-o Mix in, or did I just miss it? Also, Greg Grunberg apparently was in it, but I missed him.
The best part is the kids' movie during the end credits sequence. Seriously.
