Who is the big spoon/little spoon: For a long time it was Kara, because she couldn't help it: the moonbeam was so little, y'know? But underneath it all, when River tells her that it's time for the colors to come out of the painting, when Kara actuall let herself go, it was River who was holding her, River who stroked her hair and murmured Jì dé wǒ ai nǐ over and over, and she knew she was home, and she didn't need Earth.

What is their favorite non-sexual activity: Kara likes brushing River's hair; River finds it soothing. River will thread tiny braids into Kara's that the pilot pretends is annoying but secretly loves.

Who uses all the hot water in the morning: Both of them do. It makes Mal more'n a mite angry and sends Jayne back to his bunk with a slammed hatch quicker'n anything.

What they order from take out: Kara likes the green-colored protein best; she pretends its spinach and can stomach the non-flavor better that way, while River truly doesn't care. If they are dirtside, they love bao and will eat the buns piping hot, licking their fingers and grinning like children.

What is the most trivial thing they fight over: Exactly the notes the stars sing. River will hum them quietly and Kara will weave the melody in, and no one else understands why they sing like that without words or can identify the tune.

Who does most of the cleaning: Kara. Habit, mostly: she never had all that much space on Galactica and she sure as hell doesn't on Serenity. And sometimes River gets in those odd moods where she's between one thought and the next and, well, that's the way of things.

What has a season pass in their DVR: When it's their turn to pull up something on the cortex, they both love this godawful kung fu soap opera. The only one who will watch it with them is Zoe, because the baby thinks it's soothing and kicks less, and later sleeps by it sometimes.

Who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working: Kaylee comes to their room with an awkward flush the first time, but ever after she treats their requests with specific attention, mostly to annoy Simon.

Who steals the blankets: River. Her feet get cold. Kara thinks the quickest way to steal them back is to wrap herself around River. Problem solved.

Who leaves their stuff around: Such as it is? River, whose thoughts run in fast like birds and sometimes she gets distracted and can't think and all the voices are too loud and that's when Kara will sing quietly and put things to rights.

Who remembers their anniversary: River counts from the day they met because she could feel Kara's attraction like molten gold, then when it became affection it was warm, the best blanket ever, and when it turned to love--well. As for Kara, she never counted until after six months of sharing bunks and food and everything, River takes a bullet for her, and Simon has a helluva job putting her to rights, and Kara sits by the infirmary bed praying fervently to Apollo and Zeus and all the Lords of Kobol, and when River wakes up and calls her silly, they kiss, and that's that.
