Drive-By Review: The Hunger Games

I went in with high expectations and they were met. I thought pretty much all the performances were nailed and the ones I was worried about--like Josh Hutcherson and Lenny Kravitz--were completely blown out of the water. I was always kind of iffy on Peeta but goddamned if I'm not on Team Peeta now, and I also may have a crush on Cinna. (Also possibly 'shipping Katniss/Cinna, which ew wtf self?)

Anyhow. SO PATHETICALLY BEHIND. Must make a paper happen in four days and finish an article by Saturday. WISH ME LUCK, 'KAY!

I enjoyed the Hunger Games movie too (I've also read the books.) As far as Katniss/Cinna...yeah, it comes out of nowhere, but there it is. I loved Cinna in the books and love him even more in the movie. It was also one of the few movies I can remember where how scared someone was made me cry. The scene where Katniss goes into her tube right before the game.

Yeah where she is visibly quivering and he's just radiating warmth and she's soaking it up? That was the moment where I was like "SHIP YOU!"

I thought this was one of the best book to screen adaptations I've ever seen. I, too, was worried about Josh Hutcherson's Peeta, but he pulled it off handsomely, but I will always be Team Gale. I really liked Lenny Kravitz as Cinna, but, I've been in love with him since I was like, nine, so, he can do no wrong. I'm definitely looking forward to Catching Fire. Any wishlist casting for Finnick?

Chris Pine. No seriously, I think he would be AMAZING with the initial impression of vapid manslut of the Capitol followed up by the whole being-in-love-with-Annie, determined-to-save-Katniss-and-the-baby thing. *_* (In fact, my ovaries would probably explode.)
