Marvel commits to Black Widow film

I can only imagine at Marvel Studios some variant of the following conversation is happening:

MINION: Every since the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer came out, social media has been swamped with memes about DC unable to put together a Wonder Woman movie while we can have a talking alien raccoon riding an alien Ent.

KEVIN FEIGE: Hmm. It seems as if women want to see a woman superhero as much as they do gorgeous men in tight and flattering uniforms.

MINION: Indeed, sir.

KEVIN FEIGE: Well, we must obviously never waste an opportunity to stamp on DC mercilessly. Someone call the contracts office and Scarjo. Time to start redesigning Phase 3!

Yay! I love superhero movies!

And I feel the way about the word superhero as I do the word, actor. It indicates the profession. (I don't know if even describing actors or superheroes and wanting to indicate gender, if the words actress or superheroine be used. Heroine came about a whiles back, but then "superhero" happened and seemed to encompass both genders.)

I saw that yesterday and I found the language ("The notion of exploring that even further in her own film would be great, and we have some development work with that.") was definitely *not* would I would consider a commitment, more like "eh, we're thinking about it."
