Oh Memories

I'm writing an article for PopMatters on Reboot fandom as part of their special issue on Trek's 50th Anniversary, and as a sort of prelude to that (and because of the new movie) I've been reading a bunch of my fav fics. I really, *really* want to have time and energy for fic (I have a couple of paragraphs for a PWP??? But that's it) but...I kind of don't. And what I do have needs to be devoted to the diss and my Literary History of Fanfic projects... But still. I remember being able to mentally checkout and WRITE and it was GREAT....

I still wish I had the mental energy to pick back up the serial I was writing after the first reboot movie. But gradschool hit me harder the next year and I've never been able to recapture it.

Yes. This movie has made me much more nostalgic for all things Trek than ST:ID did, and I've been going back and reading. But no time to write... :(

I have noticed a post-film bump in fic, which didn't happen with STID. So I'm kinda hopeful, somehow.

I find it interesting in how (new) people are flocking to all the stuff that came out after the 2009 film. I'm getting kudos by the busload everyday for all my backlog on AO3. The demand for academy fic, in particular, is quite high and McKirk is having quite a resurgence. Like you, though, my writing mojo has done a bunk. As much as I want to, I don't think any new fic is coming out of me with this one.
