More SPN/LoT thoughts
Dec. 9th, 2018 09:18 pmSequel to last post, plus watched this week's Legends of Tomorrow again: I am struck by the seeming parallels of the plots this week, and wondering whether they will go to the same places or...not.
LoT, "Hell No, Dolly": We find Constantine was in love with a guy named Desmond, they had an apartment together, Constantine happily went grocery shopping and cooked for him, they had passionate onscreen sex and said l-o-v-e to each other. Des also called Constantine on his brooding hero shit and how he believes he can't ever be happy. We also find that a demon possessed Des and John had to send both of them to hell with tears in his eyes. So now he's going to try to rewrite time to save Des's life, except of course it goes less than great.
SPN, "Byzantium": The boys' "son" Jack dies, so they go on a quest to save his life, which ends up with Cas making a bargain with The Empty to save Jack's life. The Empty promises that it will come for Cas the moment that he allows himself to feel sun warm on his face and to be happy. (Destiel girls watching: Hmm, he saves his son and is happy in the bunker with his found family. What. else. could. he. be. wanting. *as he gazes meaningfully into the eyes of Dean* We. will just. never. know.)
Now, LoT is an upbeat show, so I'm kind of assuming that they will end up saving Des's soul if not his actual life. SPN: Lots of people seem worried they'll make Destiel canon but kill Cas off for good...which, I really doubt? They tried that once (which, funny enough I assumed it was a matter of time before they brought him back, but apparently they did so grudgingly) and their ratings taaaaaanked. I think they are gonna straight up do a Buffy/Angel where they'll have a moment of happiness, and then Dean will have to move heaven and earth to save Cas.
The plot parallels were just so interesting this week, so I had to remark on it!
