DIS Reaction Post: "Brother"

The new episode made me cry twice tonight. It hit me right in the feels. Reaction with spoilers:

1) Captain Pike you are a charming motherfucker.

2) Does Vulcan have...trees?

3) I am overly pleased that the mansplainer went smush because I am awful. But srsly, why did Pike even HAVE a dude like that as his Science Officer? (I know, Spock is away, but....still.)

4) Man I hope Stamets doesn't actually leave.

5) "That's the power of MATH, people!"

6) The fortune cookie quote.

7) Leave no Starfleet brother or sister behind.

8) "We've got this, right, ladies?" "...RIGHT!".

Pike is good? I haven't been willing to pay for the series, but you know I love a good Pike.

Pike is GREAT. After this one episode I'd argue that he is in fact worth ponying up $6-10/month for.

Oh, that episode was so good. I LOVE Pike! You can see Bruce Greenwood in his actions. He's like a balm to Discovery's crew.

I want Hugh back so damn bad. He was one of my favorites. I hurt for Stamets.

I agree with all of your list, especially the manslainer. When I saw the commander in red, I immediately thought she'd be the one to bite the dust, so I'm kind of happy that it was someone in science blue instead. Way to change it up, writing staff!

This season is going to be AWESOME!

I was so secondhand embarrassed and so empathic for Tilly's giggly goof-up when talking to Pike. And how Pike immediately was like, "Wait, nope, this is good, you guys can see everything about me, including the F I made in astrophysics!" <3 Like oh. Oh I love you already, sir.

My heart skipped a beat when I saw Wilson Cruz's name in the credits. I still hold out hope he'll get some kind of res--I partially blame my Supernatural rewatch on that, but also...he's such a good actor and it would be such a waste to be without him altogether!

I'm already dying for next week...

Oh, I hear you about the scene with Tilly and Pike. He was so good with her. I also loved how he wanted a sound-off without rank so that he knew who he was going into danger with. That just made me love him even more. I love FINALLY

I love FINALLY being able to see the backstory on Pike besides the TOS episodes with him. I love that this Pike seems more in line with AOS Pike.

As for Culber, I think you'll be happy to read this.

I serious NEED him back in the show. I need him and Stamets back together again.

They mentioned immediately on the After Trek when they killed Hugh off that he'd be back--but hot damn that he's a regular!!

I think they are going to end up pulling him out of the mycelial network somehow...
