Regarding Coronavirus

caitriI know it's inappropriate, but I REALLY want to throw a Decameron-themed party. (I'd have to research 14th c. Italian cuisine. I think it'd be fun, but then I would.) (Oops my finger slipped--Italian recipes - Medieval Cuisine).
Meanwhile, it is peak conference season, and two different conferences that my colleagues go to have been cancelled. My usual conference isn't until next month, but I'm honestly half expecting them to cancel in the next couple of weeks as well. We'll see what happens; I'll be really bummed if I don't get to see my usual gang of friends if so.
This morning Scott went shopping just in case. Should our uni town end up in quarantine*, he bought a fuckton of oats, dry pasta, jarred sauces, frozen pizzas, chocolate bars, toilet paper, and kleenex. We won't starve to death if it hits, but we might end up with scurvy...
*Last year when the polar vortex hit, the university cancelled classes, deeming the cold too dangerous for students, and closed everything except for the library and the gym. Because that made sense. I suspect that if something were to happen, they'd do something similar. I have various colleagues in California, Michigan, and Texas all reporting that their unis are saying to have two weeks' worth of remote assignments prepped just in case.
