caitri | A Book a Day: Revolt in 2100

With everything going on, this is the book that popped into my head for today. NB I read it once, like, 25 years or so ago. BUT it's a collection of thematically-linked stories, the centerpiece being about a revolution in which the US has become a theocracy, and the main character is a young soldier who increasingly sees his ideals of truth and honor at odds with the authoritarians in power. So, you know, this is a mood one hopes for.

For kicks I went to see if I could find any covers of Starship Troopers with a black guy on the cover since--rather famously--the main character is in fact black. Unfortunately, I could not. I wonder. why.
