A Book a Day: Rejected Princesses
Jun. 16th, 2020 02:24 pm Every day I'm posting an image of a book I like. This is the print book version of Jason Porath's web series of profiles of women across history and the world (link in comments). Hopefully you've all seen at least some of these before, but at any rate the idea is to undercut the stereotypical image of (mostly white) princesses from Disney and Pixar with the fantastical, brutal, and amazing adventures of real life women. Such "princesses" include activists like Ida Wells and Mother Jones, writers like Christine de Pizan and Sor Juana Inés de La Cruz, revolutionaries like Qiu Jin and Mekatilili wa Menza...you get the idea. So many stories, and all of them amazing!
