A Book a Day: I, Claudius/Claudius the God

Every day I'm sharing an image of a book I like. I'll confess to have spent more time with the miniseries adaptation than the novels (which I read exactly once, because the same style that makes Graves's translation of Suetonius delightful also makes reading a first person fictional narrative rather distracting), but since late 2016 I've kept thinking of the dying Claudius's refrain to the Sibyl and to those around him: "Let all the poisons that lurk in the mud hatch out." I think we've been watching that, and while the Empire fared better after Nero, it was still upheld as worse than the days of the Republic (which are of course under-documented). ANYWAYS, think about it, my darling little marmosets.
